Company Background

Judith K. Hochstadt, MD, “Dr. Judy” founded HELP LLC in 2004 in order to formalize the establishment of her Healthy Eating Lifestyle Program, HELP, and make it available to patients outside her practice. HELP is now available through multiple Connecticut-based licensees including YMCAs and rehabilitation centers. eHELP, an online, self-paced version of HELP, is under development and will make the Program accessible to parents and children outside Southwestern Connecticut.

Judith K. Hochstadt, MD, “Dr. Judy”
Founder, President and Medical Director
Dr. Judith Hochstadt, “Dr. Judy”, has been a practicing pediatrician and endocrinologist in Fairfield County Connecticut since 1982. She completed her internship, residency and fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology at Yale New Haven Medical Center. Her research at Yale involved working with children and adolescents on the prototype insulin pump. Dr. Hochstadt ran a Yale satellite diabetes and endocrinology clinic for 18 years at Bridgeport Hospital in Bridgeport, Connecticut. There, she witnessed firsthand the emergence of the obesity and type II diabetes mellitus epidemic. Dr. Hochstadt is the past vice president of the Fairfield County Connecticut chapter of the American Diabetes Association.

She is a senior attending physician at Bridgeport Hospital, Yale New Haven Health; a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics; and a member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE), the Endocrine Society, the American Diabetes Association (ADA), and the North American Association for the Study of Obesity (NAASO).


Laurie Jordan, MS, RD
Chief Dietician
Laurie Jordan has over twenty years' experience as a Registered Dietitian including the foodservice, government, nursing home and hospital industries. She has worked for the last seven years as a clinical manager in the Department of Food and Nutrition at Bridgeport Hospital and began their Weight Management Center over three years ago. Laurie received an MS in Nutrition from New York University, New York, a BS in Nutrition from Mount Mary College, Milwaukee, WI and is certified in Adult Weight Management. Laurie has been a Type 1 diabetic for over 36 years and has followed the rules of low glycemic since its advent.


Jennifer E. Crowley, LCSW
Mental Health
Jennifer E. Crowley is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works extensively with children, adolescents and families. She maintains a private practice in Fairfield, CT and is also a full-time school social worker. Her experience in program development and group facilitation and her knowledge of the emotional factors that influence healthy choices brings a unique perspective to HELP. Ms. Crowley graduated from Columbia University with a Masters in Social Work in 1996.
